Prep Hoops Finale Sunday Stock Risers: Part 1
The Prep Hoops Finale had a ton of Stock Risers flying up the charts on Sunday this is just the first part. Look for more articles throughout the week on who made sure they shined at the Prep Hoops Finale!
Kamden Gipson 2018 Oklahoma Power Point Guard
Gipson has no offers, but that surely will change before July is over. He has all a small college could ask for with toughness, scoring and hard-nosed defense. Gipson is one of those players who lays it all on the line every night for his team. The type of player every coach loves to coach. He had a tremendous weekend scoring the ball from behind the arc. Not to mention he ran the Point Guard spot very effectively and created off the dribble for his teammates. Gipson projects to the small college level.
Adokiye Iyaye 2018 OnPoint Hoops Wing
Iyaye proved even more he is an absolute steal for the UTSA staff. This weekend Iyaye stepped up as the leader of OnPoint Hoops on the floor. When they needed him to score Iyaye did at all three levels. Each time a player on the opposing team got going Iyaye slid over and played good defense against him. Iyaye is a true two way player that gives the same hard effort on both ends. He took his team all the way to the finals and nearly pulled off a late comeback. The ability for Iyaye to do so many different things on the floor to impact the game is what makes him so good.
Ramey Harrison 2018 Team Flight Point Guard
Harrison was the best I have ever seen him this weekend at the Prep Hoops Finale. He led the attack for Team Flight at the Point Guard spot creating offensive openings for himself and his teammates. The change in pace of Harrison with the ball allowed him to get past defenders to the hoop. He shot the ball solid. It seemed all weekend long Harrison had a knack for coming up with steals and loose balls. Harrison projects to the NAIA D2 level.
Brooks Haddock 2018 Tulsa Hawks Wing
The weekend Brooks Haddock had scoring the ball might have been the best out of any player in the tournament with his efficiency and consistency. Haddock is a 6’3 Wing that can get buckets on the court from just about anywhere. He has great touch on his jumper and over time has evolved into a player that can also be effective putting the ball on the floor. Haddock is a no brainer Division II talent out of Muskogee. Look for the interest to really grow after his strong start to July.
Lamont Evans IV 2020 Team Griffin Point Guard
Over this spring and summer Lamont Evans IV has shown some really positive growth. This weekend he locked down his opponents on defense. It was easy to note when Evans entered the game because the defense improved so greatly. The on-ball defense Evans played was very noteworthy. On offense Evans got going with the drive to the hoop and also drained a pair of three-pointers. He is a player on the rise to keep a lookout for in the Oklahoma 2020 Class.
Morgan Brown 2018 Rocky Mountain Vipers Wing
Athletically, Brown was the top of the Prep Hoops Finale. He soared for some monster slam dunks that had the crowd in shock. Brown gets noticed for his slams, but its the athleticism that allows him to get to the rim and finish so well. Coming into the Prep Hoops Finale Brown had no offers. This July expect Brown to pick up heavy D2, JUCO and maybe even hear from some Low Major Division I schools at 6’5 with his athleticism.
Broc Smith 2019 Springfield Hawks Wing
Smith was outstanding this weekend for the Springfield Hawks leading them to the 16U Prep Hoops Finale Championship. On the Wing at 6’3 he is tough to handle with some sneaky handles, good lift on his jumper and shiftiness to get by his defender to the rim. Smith has athleticism that surprises when he rises up. Over the weekend Smith put a consistent body of work that made him stand out. He projects to the Division II to possibly the Low Major Division I level with development over the next year.
Manny Akot 2018 BBA Force (South Dakota) Forward
Manny Akot was a man amongst boys in the paint this weekend in Oklahoma City. He was super active on the boards using his 6’8 frame to dominate the glass. On defense he was very active in blocking shots. Akot finished well with the chance inside he had at the Prep Hoops Finale. He brought his hard had and did a lot of the dirty work to help BBA Force to victory. The way Akot rebounds, defends and can score around the rim will have colleges noticing his talents.
