The 6-foot-2 sharpshooter was challenged by an older teammate two years ago, and that has stuck with him.
“When I was a freshman we had a senior on the team that hit seven 3s in a game, and he bet me that I wouldn’t be able to beat his record,” said Calloway. “And then the first game this season I hit five, so that’s a little goal of mine is to beat that record.”
That precision shooting is something that could make him a desireable college prospect down the road. But right now he says his recruitment has been somewhat slow.
“To be honest no schools have really called or texted,” said Calloway. “At the beginning of my sophomore year I got a letter from Miami of Ohio, but it’s been really slow since. But I think after my junior season it’ll pick up.”
Though he still has plenty of time for hos recruitment to materialize, he says he feels a bit neglected up to this point of his career.
“Actually I do feel that I’m a little under the radar. And what I hope is to get my name out there not only in the state, but in the nation with a really good season. And I want to have a great AAU season too, being that it’s my last year playing,” said Calloway. “So I’m really going to have to make a statement on the floor this year.”
