PHC Top 250 Expo Preview: 2019 & 2020 Shooting & Combo Guards
The official start of the 2016-17 high school basketball season in Colorado is still more than two months away, but we can go ahead and call Saturday it’s unofficial start.
That’s because you won’t find a better event in the state to get you ready for the season than the Prep Hoops Colorado Top 250 Expo, which will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gold Crown Fieldhouse in Lakewood.
There are more than 200 players who will be in attendance at the event, with great coaches putting them through skill work before having the chance to compete in games against their talented peers. There is simply no better stage for players to grow their game, face stern competition and get exposure in front of the Prep Hoops staff.
With that, we continue our preview of the Top 250 with the 2019 and 2020 classes. If you’re not on the list, you’re still in the right place, with a chance to show us what you’ve got come Saturday!
Shooting & Combo Guards
Kenny Foster (2019) is our top-ranked player in the sophomore class. Nearing 6-5, Foster is a player who can score almost at will on the attack and with his mid-range jumper. He’s athletic in transition on both ends, a plus defender at the rim while trailing a fast break. He’s biggest area of focus offensively has been a 3-point shot that is making strong headway.
Beck Page (2019) is a 6-2 guard who made a big splash while playing for Colorado Anarchy during the grassroots season. He’s an all-around guard who thrives on both ends. Good mid-range jump shooter who also has a strong feel for the game with the ball in his hands. Can defend multiple guard positions. Should have a nice impact for Longmont as a sophomore.
Avery Rembao (2019) was arguably the MVP of the Colorado Premier program this summer. He has great length for an off-the-ball guard, and he has really come a long way as a defender. Showed during an impressive freshman season on the Loveland varsity squad that he can score in multiple ways. Has the athleticism to finish above the rim.
Tyler Unger (2019) is a 6-1 sophomore for Grandview who starred for the Elevation Flyers this grassroots season. Handles the ball well and plays with good toughness.
Taylor Harris (2020) is a freshman at Pueblo West who already stands 6-2 and is very fluid and versatile. He’s got long strides and gets to the basket with little wasted movement. Moves well laterally on defense and disrupts passing lanes. Good shooter who will only continue to improve.
