Colorado certainly has its fair share of strong floor generals at the moment, and a number of those point guards have really elevated their standing the last six weeks or so.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the point guard stock risers in the Mile High State:
Jaizec Lottie, 6-0 2017, Billups Elite
Lottie will be on the mend for about a month after suffering a broken foot, but he was making waves this spring before his injury. He was a big factor in Billups Elite going 5-3 during the first two stops of the adidas Gauntlet circuit. He recently picked up an offer from Weber State to add to similar o vertures from Northern Colorado, Air Force and Santa Clara. His ability to explode into the lane and then make sound, playmaking decisions in traffic has been especially impressive. He should be good to go for Billups when they head to the Gauntlet finale in July.
Brevin Brimble, 6-0 2017, Colorado Miners
Few at the position in the state can shoot it from long-range like Brimble. The Colorado Spring native is dynamite in the pick-and-roll because of his high IQ and the fact that defenders have to respect his ability to stop on a dime and hoist from deep. Brimble’s strong play this spring has helped him gain “significant interest” from the likes of Air Force, the University of Denver and Massachusetts Lowell, according to the Miners.
Tyson Gilbert, 6-0 2018, Colorado Chaos
Gilbert seems to be on a mission this spring to prove himself among the state’s best point guards. One of the biggest improvements we’ve seen is just the overall edge and aggressiveness he has displayed. Gilbert seems to be understanding he belongs and is often playing like the best player on the court. He’s been dynamite as a long range shooter and is using is deceptive length defensively to really hound on the perimeter.

Michael Ward, 6-2 2017, Colorado Titans
Perhaps the best compliment to be paid to Ward — and it’s a far greater one than most players realize — is that he is consistently solid. The point guard out of Mead isn’t going to blow you away with his athleticism, but he is so smooth and economical with his movement that he is often able to shed defenders and get into a position to create. He’s a very solid outside shooter (about 40 percent while averaging 16 points per game as a junior) and has good vision. Best of all, he is a highly aggressive defender.
Cameron Levan, 5-9 2020, Colorado Premier
Don’t let the size fool you. The pint-sized gym rat, who will be a freshman at Legend next season, has already displayed great confidence while playing up a a division with Premier. He can absolutely stroke it from long range, and he displays good toughness on both ends.

Jon’il Fugett, 6-0 2018, Colorado Hawks
We documented Fugett’s growth in this recent recruiting report. He is one of — if not the most — purely athletic players at the position in the state, and his speed wreaks havoc on both ends of the court. While being known as a top-notch on-ball defender, who is also a consistent outside shooter, knocking down 54 percent as a sophomore at George Washington. Division I interest in the young guard has increased this spring.
Kobe Sanders, 5-11 2020, Billups Elite
Sanders has impressed while playing up a division with our state’s top-ranked 15U team, Billups Elite. Sanders is very quick with the ball in his hands and has already displayed a pretty advanced feel for getting teammates the ball in good scoring position. He’ll be a player to watch when he begins his freshman season at Chaparral with a cast of talented young players in Ronnie DeGray, Bryce Matthews and Joseph Dalton.
