And yet, their 2017 class— with top-100 prospects Jacob Pfaffinger, Brian Read, Iseri Palacio, and Damien Murillo—is among the finest in Northern Colorado and the Lambkins finished 8-4 in the FRL, 16-9 overall.
All four players averaged double-figure points, and for a team that loves to push in transition, Palacio stepped in admirably as a dynamic scoring and distributing point guard. A shifty ball-handler with vision, the junior averaged 12 points, 5.2 assists, 4 rebounds and 1.9 steals. He’s also a solid perimeter shooter and his many skills fueled the Lambkins’ offense.
“I didn’t expect to average five assists per game,” Palacio said. “It was a goal set for me, but I thought it would be tough to reach. I could’ve shot a little better at the end of the year, but I thought I had a pretty decent year.”
Nonetheless, the point guard still finished the year 46 percent from the field, 36 percent from three and 83 percent from the line. He also has good burst.
“Right now I’m focused on becoming a better leader on the court,” Palacio said. “I’m trying to make better decisions and make sure to keep my turnovers down, so that we get more possessions.”
And, for his final grassroots run, the 5-foot-11 prospect has joined the Colorado Titans, along with teammates Read and Pfaffinger and Luke Wilson and Michael Ward.
“Obviously I’m trying to get exposure for college coaches, but I just want to become a better player. I’m trying to enjoy it while it lasts, because this is my last AAU season.”
Palacio has received interest from a few colleges thus far and should fit in nicely on an athletic Titans lineup.
