VOTE: Colorado Player of the Week 1/11 – 1/16
LeChaun Duhart, 5-11 junior guard, Grandview
During a 2-1 week for the Wolves — the only loss a four-point setback to top-10 squad Cherokee Trail — Duhart averaged 19.3 points and 4.3 assists per game. His top performance came in Grandview’s 80-77 win over Highlands Ranch on Saturday, when he tallied 27 points (8-of-8 from the free-throw line) and seven assists.
Will Wittman, 6-3 senior guard/forward, Arvada West
Wittman had 19 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over Pomona, then came back with 21 points and nine rebounds to help the Wildcats beat Columbine and bounce back with a 2-0 week following a heartbreaking 61-60 loss to Dakota Ridge on Jan. 8.
Frank Ryder, 6-11 senior forward, Fairview
Ryder had a season-high 30 points in the Knights’ 54-53 victory over Loveland on Friday. That came three days after he tallied 24 points, six rebounds and three blocks in an 80-72 win over Prairie View.
Conner Martin, 6-1 junior guard, Strasburg
A big scoring week for Martin included a 28-point outing in an 81-63 victory over Estes Park, followed by a 44-point outburst in a narrow 80-77 loss 3A top-10 outfit Eaton. Martin hit eight 3-pointers in the Eaton game and added three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
David Thornton, 6-5 senior forward, Cherokee Trail
Thornton has been a double-double machine for the 5A top-10 Cougars for much of the season, and he put up similar numbers last week. He had 18 points and eight rebounds in a hard-fought victory over Grandview. He then scored 27 points and pulled down 11 boards in a victory over Mullen.
Tyrei Randall, 6-5 senior wing, Rangeview
Randall helped the Raiders move to 12-0 with 23 points in a 72-65 win over George Washington and 26 points in a 60-42 win over Boulder. Randall shot a highly efficient 59 percent from the field (17-of-29), 50 percent from 3-point range (5-of-10) and 83 percent from the line (10-12) over the two games.
