We are over the halfway point in the season so it is a great time to take a look back. We are going to have a multi-part series including Stock Risers, Under The Radar, Standouts, New Faces, and Guys To Watch. We get going with a look at New Faces. Here are the list of guys who impressed enough to get on our radar so far this season, starting with the point guards.
<span style="color: #ff6600; font-size: 18pt; line-height: 1.1em; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Top Names</strong></span>
<span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Blake Evans </strong></span>
<span style="color: #000000;">6'0 PG 2017 Southport </span>
<span style="color: #000000;">I've really liked what I have seen out of Evans this year. He gives Southport another scoring option they desperately needed. I think he's got a veteran's presence on the court and it allows him to take a bigger role on this team. He's made some big plays early in the season and it has been easy for him to jump on our radar.</span>
<strong>Luke Shively
</strong>6'0 PG 2017 Mishawaka
Luke is a guy I really like because of his length and his shooting ability. He's got a ton of upside if you see him as a point guard at the next level because he can sure as heck shoot it and doesn't need a lot of shots to score points, which is something I love to see out of point guards. He jumped out because of his ability to knock down shots, hope to see the full package later this year.
<strong>Deon Moore </strong>
6'1 PG 2017 Gary Roosevelt
Much like Shively, Moore is a really long guard and Moore actually has some size to him. Athletic and strong already, with his offense having to show up a little more. He's an all-or-nothing type of guard who likes deep threes or right at the the rim. Deon has a lot of tools already that I like and with some development, he could be a really nice prospect.
<strong>Bryan Givens </strong>
6'0 PG 2016 South Bend Washington
Givens had one of the best stretches during a game I've seen this year. He got going in the second half in a tournament in Evansville and ripped off about 12 points in just a couple minutes. Heard he has that ability but need to see consistency. Had he been that great all game they probably would have won the game. A lot of upside though because he can score it.
<strong>Sam Colbert </strong>
6'0 PG 2017 Broad Ripple
Colbert is a high motor guard with quite a bit of upside. He was really good against Greenfield-Central and showed a lot of promise as an offensive threat at the point. Decent handles but aggressiveness made him really intriguing. If you can get him to polish up the offense just a bit and tighten up the handle, he is worth a look for sure.
