It was hard not to take notice of Braxton Bertolette during his net-scorching performance with the Colorado Hawks’ 16U squad on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit this summer.
Bertolette was one of Colorado’s top performers during the grassroots season, compiling a handful of 30-point-plus games while showing the scoring ability that has made him one of the state’s top 2017 players.
Colleges have been in fact taking stock of the 6-foot-2 guard from Fossil Ridge, who put up 12.7 points per game in just 16 minutes per game last season.
The University of North Dakota of the Big Sky Conference gave Bertolette a scholarship offer on Thursday night, his first so far from a Division I program.
“I’m excited to announce that I have received an official offer from the University of North Dakota,” Bertolette wrote on Twitter.
Bertolette averaged better than 22 points per game with the Hawks this summer, winning the Prep Hoops Colorado Player of the Week award for the second evaluation period after leading the Hawks to the semifinals at Las Vegas Live.
Bertolette figures to take on an even bigger role this season for a Fossil Ridge team that is aiming to get back to the state championship game it reached two seasons ago.
