was one of the most explosive athletes in attendance this past weekend in Appleton. After seeing him throw down an impressive poster on Saturday, Zayn impressed on Sunday with his effort and finishing ability. Despite dropping a pair of games to shoe circuit teams, I came away with his effort and will to win on both ends of the floor. He was battling defensively, and continued to find ways to get to the rim on the offensive end. Zayn can explode off the floor for dunks, and also has the body control to hang in the air and finish acrobatically against size.

Young was another player to exhibit a versatile offensive skill set, combining athleticism, strength, and finesse. He showcased his explosiveness with a two-handed dunk on a fast break, followed by another off an alley-oop. He can finish at the rim or execute with creativity, draining shots like runners and tear-drops. From the perimeter, he confidently knocked down several threes, highlighting his range and shot-making ability. He runs the point well and has a plus handle, with a burst and quick step that allows him to break down defenders and take the rock to the basket. His ability to finish through contact or draw fouls adds another layer to his offensive ability. If he’s in the post, he has the strength and leaping ability to defend, rebound and score through a variety of moves. Young’s gritty, competitive nature is evident in his play, but he balances it with poise and control, making him a player to watch whenever he steps on the court.

Zayn was one of the most athletic guards in attendance over the weekend. I’ve seen him at multiple events this spring, and the Midwest Showdown was probably the most productive I’ve seen him. Zayn put together a big game against 24:Up UA Rise, slashing to the basket for acrobatic finishes and dunks. Just has a quick first step that allows him to blow by defenders out on the perimeter. Against a Power 5 team loaded with D1 level size and athleticism, he was still able to produce going at the rim and sitting deep in a stance on defense. Has a level of natural athleticism you can’t teach, and is so dangerous when his jumper is falling.

Zayn impressed in the final game of the weekend for ABC Young Lions . He’s an explosive athlete with a quick first step, and was utilizing that athleticism to beat his man off the dribble and attack the rim with a purpose. If he saw a gap he was going to put the ball on the floor, get into the lane, and elevate off two feet to finish. Zayn is able to just hang in the air and contort his body to finish around defenders, and if he gets a clear path he can elevate and throw down dunks with ease. Made some big plays in the 2nd half to help his team pull away and take down 24:Up UA Rise.

Zayn was one of the most explosive athletes I saw all weekend. The ABC Young Lions guard has such a quick first step, and excelled at beating his defender baseline to get to the rim. Does a nice job of playing off two feet, featuring the athleticism to hang in the air and contort his body to finish in traffic. Play off him too much and he showed he can stop and elevate for a mid-range jumper. Also had one of the weekend’s highlight plays as he followed up a teammate’s miss with a put-back dunk.

Running with ABC Young Lions , Zayn was one of the most explosive athletes in the building. He has such a quick first step to attack the basket, and from there he explodes off of two feet to finish against opposing bigs. Young is just as impressive on the defensive end where he can sit deep in a stance and turn opposing ball handlers when picking up full-court. Does a nice job of fighting to get over screens, and also had an impressive block coming in from the help-side on Sunday. Intriguing two-way contributor.
