Sminkle can play either spot on the perimeter, which he should put on display this season. The 6’4 forward has a good first step, which he uses to get to the rim and can draw contact in the paint. Sminkle uses his size to see over his defender and moves well without the ball in his hands. He jumps passing lanes to make an impact on the defensive end and pushes the pace in transition. Sminkle’s ability to defend the ball and stretch the floor is something to track over the next couple of months.

Sminkle impacted the game on both ends of the floor and plays a lot bigger than his size. He has great timing when going up to alter shots. His frame allows him to eat up space underneath. Sminkle was effective running the floor and finishing inside. He showed that he has some athletic pop in his game. He had no issue guarding different positions. Sminkle should see an increased role this upcoming season.
