-Ruffin really stood out as one of several change of pace guards that lead the way for RC. He is a great passer off the live dribble with either hand, showed an explosive change of speed to hit his opponent with a hesi dribble before getting downhill to either finish or kick out to an open shooter. Love how he plays with his head up whether he is setting up the offense from the top of the key or driving baseline to free up a teammate. Ruffin makes great decisions in side and middle PnR and takes care of the rock without getting sped up. Thought that Ruffin really showed active hands defensively in the open court to come away with several strips before the ball can get above their hips. His dynamic scoring and play-making was one of the primary reasons his team came away with the win vs a good Bullis team.

-Loved Ruffin’s explosive play as a driving point guard that is always probing the defense to find open gaps to burst through before finishing at the rim. Ruffin also provided some pesky POA defense, collecting 4 steals (mostly on-ball) that he then turned into points at the other end for his team. As a small guard that often gets past his matchup on the perimeter, want to see him make more decisions above the free throw line to give his teammates another beat or two of a step on helpers and allow them to finish at the rim before the defense can react. Had several nice rip n go’s from the wing but none were more impactful than a coast to coast layup that he hit just before time expired to seal a come from behind win for his team.

Ruffincame off the Roman Catholic bench in the 6A final and provided an instant spark at both ends of the floor. He is an ultra-quick guard with tremendous instincts. On offense those assets combined with his slick handles to get Ruffin (5 points) to the rack in transition as well as in the half-court. Ruffin’s ability to maintain his dribble as he patiently probed the opposing defense for a high percentage scoring opportunities was impressive. Defensively, Ruffin’s quickness, instincts and active hands produced several steals. This freshman was extremely poised under the bright lights in Hershey.
