Lynn is a rapidly improving big man who can really score with his back to the basket. His development is particularly intriguing considering how limited his high school minutes have been due to injuries and just how dramatically his body and game have changed over the last 18 months. At 6-foot-9, he still needs to get stronger and currently offers little shooting threat outside of eight feet. What he does provide is rebounding, rim protection, screening and interior scoring, giving him a clear foundation to continue building upon.

The other half of a twin-tower frontcourt that will serve as the focal point for Roman this season, Lyn more than held his own in a matchup with lengthy and athletic opposing frontcourt. He continues to prove that no matter who is guarding him, you can all but count it as an automatic bucket if he catches with a deep seal and the defense doesn’t send a double team. Lyn was consistently able to find his way to his right shoulder to finish inside with his strong left hand, and showed solid recognition as a passer out of the post when he did draw an extra defender. We’d like to see him continue to work the glass at a slightly greater clip but Lyn should prove to be a smart investment for D1 program that plays through the post.

One of the bigger X-factors in the upcoming Catholic League season, Lyn should be itching to get back on the floor after having his junior season stripped from him due to transfer restrictions. He’s always had size and flashes of an improving skillset, but turned the corner this summer in a big way, making the transition from long-term prospect to present-day impact. Lyn plays somewhat of an old-school game, setting up shop on either block for what feels like an automatic bucket if he gets his man sealed on his back. He also shows nice passing feel and rim protection instincts, especially considering the lost reps he’s had in the past year. D1 programs should be tracking him closely throughout the fall and winter.

Lyn’s senior season will certainly feel like a long time coming, as the emerging post was forced to sit out a season ago due to technicalities regarding his transfer from Chichester. The southpaw has grown leaps and bounds in the time since he last played a high school game, both in stature and within his game. Mostly just a tall and clumsy kid when he arrived at Roman, Lyn has blossomed quickly into a true force in the post, showcasing great fundamentals while working for deep seals and scoring efficiently over either shoulder from the block. On the defensive end he’s a natural deterrent at the rim with his size and shows glimpses of being able to move his feet to keep smaller players in front of him in space. There are still times where Lyn’s lack of experience shows up within the flow of a game, but his ability to serve as a fulcrum for Roman this coming year shows he’s well ahead of schedule in terms of developing into a true D1 prospect up front.

There’s no sauce or fluff to Lyn’s game; he simply gets the job done inside the paint. With a handful of post moves, he efficiently converted touches on the block into two points. Even on offensive rebounds, he kept the ball high, pivoted, then laid it off the glass or slammed it home. And when he walled up and grabbed boards on defense, Lyn hustled down the floor where he was often rewarded with a lob or another putback opportunity.

Was very glad to get to see Lyn back on the floor and playing again after having to sit out during the high school season due to transferring schools. He contests everything at the rim and plays with an assertive motor. Like how he is able to seal defenders when he is playing with his back to the bucket. I love the way he moves on the defensive end and is always talking to his teammates anchoring the defense. Lyn showed that he can abruptly recover when he has to go out and guard on the perimeter. He has taken a real jump in his development. Looking forward to seeing him during the June periods.
