As an eighth grader last season, Tyson Darko Tyson Darko 6'0" | SG Evangel Christian | 2030 State #57 Nation KY finished second on his team in scoring at 14.1 points per game while knocking down 58 3-pointers. In June, Darko picked up his first Division I offer from Eastern Kentucky University, further establishing himself as one of the top 2030 players in the state. He has the ability to catch fire offensively and put significant pressure on opposing defenses. Darko’s versatility allows him to hurt teams in a variety of ways, whether he is attacking the basket, knocking down shots from the perimeter or getting to the free-throw line. With his scoring ability and offensive versatility, Darko is a player who can quickly change the complexion of a game.

The best of the Evangel freshmen at this point, Tyson has been playing internationally this summer in addition to his outstanding 8th grade season at Evangel last winter. With his ability to score at all three levels, Darko has big time potential in the long term and has already earned some early D1 offers.

There’s about to be a whole lot of Evangel Christian talk for the rest of this article. If you were looking for one school that is loaded with young talent, Evangel would be that. As an 8th grader, Darko averaged over 14 points per game and he will score more than that as a Freshman if his overall shooting improves. Tyson gets to the free throw line a lot and should continue that this season.

Evangel Christian has a lot of young and talented guards and Darko is the most productive of the bunch right now. Darko started the opening game of the weekend with a contested rebound and lefty putback layup. To open the second half, Darko caught fire with three 3-pointers in quick succession as Evangel Christian pulled away from host Henry Clay. Darko’s ability to put up points in a hurry is impressive as he has a lot of scoring ability for a rising freshman who has already made his mark at the varsity level.

Darko may be the best 2030 in the state. He’s averaging 16 points per game as an 8th grader for an Evangel team that is super young but is already in the mix for a 6th region title. Tyson is an athletic scorer who gets to the rim consistently and is a capable shooter from range. With his skill set, he’s certainly a name to monitor.
