Region 6's Small School Standouts

There's talent everywhere, from small schools to big schools and from big cities to small towns. This list is simply an opportunity to highlight some of the small school players to watch this upcoming season across each region of the state.   For Region 6, schools eligible to have a player included on the “small school” list are members of the All “A” Member schools for the 2026-27 season. Those schools include DeSales, Holy Cross (Louisville), W.E.B. DuBois, Western, Evangel Christian and Whitefield Academy.   Here's a look at Region 6's small school standouts for the upcoming season:    Purdue Fort Wayne commit [player_tooltip player_id='1751495' first='Ja'Rye' last='Brown'] is not only one of the top small-school players in the Sixth Region, but one of the top players in the state. Brown ranked fourth in Kentucky in scoring last season at 28.5 points per game while finishing fifth in total points with 882. Despite his high-volume scoring, Brown was highly efficient, shooting 55.8% from the field while knocking down 52 3-pointers at a 34.9% clip from beyond the arc. He also converted 76.1% of his free-throw attempts and averaged 3.9 rebounds per game. Brown brings excitement to every game and has the ability to take over offensively, making him an elite scorer and one of the state's premier players.     [player_tooltip player_id='2876729' first='Pablo' last='Molima'] is headed to the Mid-American Conference to play for Kent State University. He led Evangel in scoring last season at 14.2 points per game while shooting an impressive 60.2% from the field and also led his team in rebounding at 10.2 boards per game, averaging a double-double. While his size certainly helps, Molima's relentless approach is a major reason for his production. He attacks the basket with physicality and consistently puts pressure on the glass. Molima is a player to watch as he can glide down the floor and finish with emphatic dunks.     As an eighth grader last season, [player_tooltip player_id='3424689' first='Tyson' last='Darko'] finished second on his team in scoring at 14.1 points per game while knocking down 58 3-pointers. In June, Darko picked up his first Division I offer from Eastern Kentucky University, further establishing himself as one of the top 2030 players in the state. He has the ability to catch fire offensively and put significant pressure on opposing defenses. Darko's versatility allows him to hurt teams in a variety of ways, whether he is attacking the basket, knocking down shots from the perimeter or getting to the free-throw line. With his scoring ability and offensive versatility, Darko is a player who can quickly change the complexion of a game.     [player_tooltip player_id='3424692' first='Golden' last='Dotson Jr']. is another young, talented freshman out of Evangel Christian who averaged 11.8 points per game last season. He was also the team's second-leading rebounder at 4.1 rebounds per game. Dotson already displays the mindset of a confident offensive player while providing value in multiple areas with his ability to score, rebound, pass and defend. He is not afraid to attack the basket and has a knack for finding ways to finish through tough situations. With a crafty game, strong handle and athleticism, Dotson is the type of player who consistently finds ways to get the job done.     [player_tooltip player_id='3417553' first='Myles' last='Johnson'] is another Eagles player who shouldn't be overlooked after averaging 11.1 points per game as an eighth grader last season. He shot 41.7% from 3-point range on 60 attempts while also averaging 3.6 rebounds per game. Johnson has already picked up two Division I offers, with the first coming from the University of Texas-San Antonio in January and the second from Eastern Kentucky University in June. He is a quick, athletic guard who moves well with or without the ball and can create scoring opportunities for himself. Along with his shooting, Johnson is a crafty finisher around the rim who uses his shiftiness and athleticism to make plays in traffic.     As good as [player_tooltip player_id='1751495' first='Ja'Rye' last='Brown'] is, his teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2712673' first='Khail' last='Ogletree'] deserves plenty of recognition as well. Ogletree averaged 12.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last season while establishing himself as a reliable scoring option. He can hurt defenses in multiple ways, whether it is knocking down shots from the perimeter, attacking the basket or using his handle to create scoring opportunities. Ogletree is also effective in isolation situations, showing the ability to create his own shot while keeping his head up to find teammates for easy baskets. His offensive versatility makes him a tough matchup and gives him the tools to be a consistent scoring threat.     [player_tooltip player_id='2873015' first='Isaac' last='Delling'] of DeSales will be the team's leading returning scorer after averaging exactly 10.0 points per game last season. He knocked down 72 3-pointers while shooting an impressive 44.7% from beyond the arc and also averaged 3.6 rebounds per game. Delling is a big-time threat from deep, using his length and quick release to make him a difficult matchup for opposing defenses. He also has the athleticism to make plays above the rim, so don't be surprised to see him throw down a few dunks. Delling has the ability to score in bunches and can easily surpass 20 points on any given night when he gets hot from downtown.
