About Tre’von
Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Coney is a skilled three-level scorer who can create his own shot as well as just about anyone in the state. With his combination of size, length, and ball-handling, he’s able to get to his spots pretty much whenever he wants. He’s at his best when he’s playing downhill and getting to the rim, as his shot is still a bit inconsistent, but if he can add a consistent jumper to his arsenal, he could be a deadly offensive weapon. He rebounds well on both ends of the floor and can be a good defender when he’s engaged.

Coney is a skilled scorer who can create his own looks well, getting to the rim for finishes or getting to his spots in the mid-range to get his shot off. He has improved as a playmaker, getting his teammates involved more, which is something he’ll probably be asked to do some more following his transfer from Davenport North to Bettendorf. At North last season, he averaged 17.9 points and 2.9 assists.

An athletic 6-1/6-2 wing, Coney plays with a lot of confidence. He’s really good when he’s playing downhill and using his athleticism and a quick first step to get to the bucket. He’s a good ball-handler with a nice crossover that he uses to get by defenders and he did a nice job finishing through contact when he got to the rim. The next step in his development will be adding some more range to his jumper. Defensively he can be a solid on-ball defender with his length and athleticism.
