sure can do it all. Composed and confident as they come on the court, Fields is going to make whatever program that takes a chance on him very happy.
A high-level shooter that can’t be given an inch of space, Fields has excellent ball control and an elite handle that he uses to create for himself and others. Penetrating the defense with regularity, Fields has mastered a floater that will be beneficial for him later on in his career. Also able to dump it off to teammates and thread the needle on passes, Fields is a difficult guard when he’s looking to attack.
An all-around player, Fields has grown an inch or two this summer, and that should help his recruitment going forward. Either way, he’ll make somebody better.

Trae might have the biggest upside of any player who took the floor in Kansas City over the weekend. Extremely skilled and confident — especially on the offensive end — he operated frequently with the ball in his hands. Fields consistently got to his spots and created openings, showing a feel for reading and attacking primary defenders. His shooting looks to be his biggest strength, showing he can heat up quickly, as he caught fire from both the mid-range and beyond the arc, creating space quickly and efficiently. He also moves and relocates off the ball, finding openings and cutting through different defensive coverages. Add in Trae’s passing and vision and you can start to see his entire game rounding into form and continuing to grow and develop. As he continues to grow into his frame and add strength, he becomes even more intriguing, especially considering how much more his game still has to offer.

One of the most skilled guards in the state, Fields is a fantastic ball-handler and shot creator who can navigate his way through congested spaces while keeping his dribble alive. He’s still small and needs to grow and add some strength to his frame, but he’s a creative finisher around the rim, has unlimited range, and is a confident shooter and scorer. He averaged 17.6 points per game as a freshman in one of the toughest leagues in the state.

Fields was one of the most productive freshmen in the state last season and picked up right where he left off, scoring in bunches from anywhere on the floor. He’s a smooth all-around offensive weapon with elite handles, the ability to navigate through tight spaces while keeping his dribble, and his vision is superb. He’s a skilled shotmaker with range well beyond the high school line, and he can create plays off the bounce for his teammates.

Another cat-quick guard with elite handles, Fields is a big-time scorer who is coming off a freshman year in which he averaged 17.6 points per game. He can knock down shots from anywhere inside half-court, but despite his small stature, he’s at his best when he’s playing downhill and attacking the rim.

Despite usually being one of the smaller players on the floor, Fields does a great job competing on the glass on both ends of the floor. He’s extremely active and has a penchant for tracking down loose rebounds. He does a nice job playing with pace, and he can change direction with the ball without losing speed.
