About Taveon
Expert Analysis

Smith is one of the top available Senior guards in my opinion and already has multiple scholarship offers at the NAIA, D2 and Juco level. Taveon is at his best when he’s got his head down and driving into the paint. He excels at getting paint touches and is smart with distributing the ball when he can’t score at the rim.

Smith is another player whose stock has taken off in recent months as he’s earned several offers from NAIA and D2 schools. Taveon is a proven scorer and facilitator who is going to be even better once he gets into a college weight room and gets better at absorbing contact and finishing at the rim.

Moving up 10 spots from 36th to 26th, Smith is one of the more underrated guards across the state. Taveon is a versatile scorer who is also a willing passer and can be a really good defender when he locks in on that end of the court. Taveon has several NAIA offers at this point and could sneak into the discussion with D1 schools if he has another good season at North Hardin this winter.

Smith was a star for the Phenom Gold team and earned an offer from Campbellsville after his performance on Saturday afternoon. Taveon is a dynamic playmaker that creates offense for himself and others with ease. In a 5th region that’s loaded with talent, Decker and Smith will be a big time matchup when they go head to head this season.

Wardlow’s running mate with Phenom Gold, Taveon is an athletic slasher who has shown he can finish through traffic and take contact. Smith was one of the best players in the 5th region this past season and could be the front runner for region player of the year next year. He just picked up an offer from Motlow CC and could see more coming his way.

Smith has a quick first step and has a good finishing package around the rim. Taveon has improved as a shooter to the point that he can keep defenses honest. One of the breakout players in the 5th region this season, Taveon may be in line for multiple scholarship offers this spring and summer if he gets enough visibility.

Smith has really broken out under a new coach for the Trojans. After being more of a role player the last two seasons, the 6’2 guard has elevated his game this year. Averaging 20 points per game, Taveon has helped get his team to a 3-1 start and is helping to push the offense to a good pace where thy are putting up plenty of points on the young season.

No one could stay in front of Smith all day long. I’m not even sure I saw Taveon take a single jumper over the course of the day and he didn’t really need to. Smith was able to get into the paint at will and excelled as a finisher, converting several And-1 opportunities over the course of 3 games.
