For a lack of better terms, Tinsley is “about a bucket” and a big reason for Butler’s success. The Bears play without a traditional big, but its deep pool of skilled guards can overwhelm opponents. Although he isn’t the Bears’ first option, Steve might be the best of them all at getting downhill and finishing tough drives through contact at the rim. He showcased advanced ballhandling and footwork to shift the defense and get to his spots throughout Butler’s successful 6th Region tournament run.

Butler is super balanced on offense and Tinsley is another of their experienced guards who is capable of getting 12-15 points per game, every game. Steven thrives as a slasher off the wing and is capable of getting to the free throw line multiple trips per contest. He enters the rankings at 126th overall and should move up as his three point shooting improves.

What I liked most about Tinsley’s game was that he was constantly in attack mode off the dribble, looking to get right to the rim. Finishing a couple incredible acrobatic layups at the rim, contact wasn’t phasing Tinsley as a finisher. Add in Tinsley’s ability to post up smaller guards and score in the paint, everything Tinsley did was focused on going straight to the rim. Hoping to see Tinsley string together some performances like the one he had Friday evening because Butler has more depth than almost everybody in Louisville when guys like him are producing.
