Anderson walked away with All-Tournament Team honors after helping Butler to the 6th Region championship title. He did a little bit of everything, but his defensive contributions were the most valuable down the stretch. I’m not sure Butler punches its Sweet 16 ticket without the plethora of steals and defensive stops that Anderson racked up. He showcased incredible anticipation, somehow beating the offense to its spot more often than not. If a 6th Region Tournament Defensive MVP award existed, Santana would have my vote.

Anderson was the most valuable volume scorer on the court on Friday night. He scored the first 7 points of the contest for the Bears and stayed aggressive throughout. He also showed impressive initiative on the defensive side of the ball. He finished with team highs in points (16), rebounds (5), and steals (4), in addition to pitching in 2 blocks.

Santana is a guard who could qualify as both quick and fast. He’s capable of getting into the paint on offense and makes good decisions once he’s there. Anderson also can be quite the nuisance on the defensive end as he is capable of getting under opposing guards and causing havoc on that end of the floor.

The game that drew the biggest crowd of the day was when host Butler took on Frederick Douglass. Anderson was a bright spot for Butler as his ability to make plays off the dribble really stood out. An undersized guard, Anderson had a couple of scoop layups when he beat his defender off the bounce and shot before a rim protector could affect his shot. Early in the game, Butler was executing their offense at a high level and Anderson was the guard who helped them get into their sets. Impressed with his overall effort and performance.
