Hughes announced that he will continue his playing career at Boston University. Coming off a strong travel season with the Middlesex Magic, and a particularly impressive showing at the NEPSAC Showcase, Hughes will look to finish his prep career with a strong final season at Dexter Southfield. He’s a big guard that is a dynamic scorer who knows how to get it done at all three levels. He’s continued to get stronger and while he’s a solid athlete, he’s shown a suprising willingness to be physical as a scorer while playing through contact. He can knock down shots from behind the arc and in the mid-range and has recently show the IQ and feel to take over a game in the post when he has an advantageous match-up. Defensively, he’s a quality rebounder for his position, knows where he needs to be in team schemes, and does a good job of staying in front of the ball. Hughes adds a talented scorer to BU’s class and has the chance to develop into one of the Patriot League’s top scorers later in his career.

Strong-bodied wing who has the ability to score from all three levels. Defenders were unable to stop him from getting straight line drives to the hoop because Hughes really understands angles and also stretches the defense with a really nice-looking long-distance jumper. Would imagine Hughes will be a scholarship level player.

Hughes, who checked in at #18 in our recently updated 2025 Rankings, scored his 1,000th point earlier this week. The big guard has taken his game to another level this winter and recently picked up offers from Brown and URI. He’s a great cutter with the ability to finish above the rim and through contact. He has good lift on his jumper which allows him to get his shot off against most defenders. And, he makes big plays when they count, having proven his scoring chops down the stretch of multiple close games this season.
