After a breakout junior season on a State Championship team, Poindexter has continued to rise. He’s a two way force, providing important defensive anchoring and rebounding principles for Texhoma. And is an one man fast break, routinely grabbing rebounds and pushing the tempo. Or running hard when teammates push, allowing him to showcase his explosiveness with transition dunks.
In the game against OWE, his jumper wasn’t falling. But that didn’t stop him from contributing in the halfcourt, especially in the second half. Consistently attacked the rim, with power And 1 finishes and acrobatic finishes to avoid contact. Considering he could still be growing (his father was a 6’10 forward at Tulsa), Poindexter might just be scratching the surface of his potential.

Poindexter played with great energy and effort, leading his team in rebounding on night one. The junior grabbed ten rebounds and was extremely active on both ends. His ability to keep balls alive and create second shot opportunities on the offensive end, really helped his team stay within striking distance despite the barrage of 3-pointers from Jamal Shead Elite. Offensively, Roman finished second on his team in scoring with 19 points. He was at his best when running the floor and working hard to create opportunities around the rim. Poindexter showed his ability to finish through contact and used his long wingspan to spin home multiple putback attempts. In the second game of the night for Southern Assault, the Cascia Hall standout was again very active with 21 points and five rebounds. His ability to finish above the rim helped his team to a 75-65 win over the Missouri Hawks.

Poindexter is the rug that ties the room together for the Commandos. At his size and with his massive wingspan he can often be found doing the dirty work with rebounds, blocks and even the occasional big time slam. He went for 14 points to put a capper on a breakout junior season that saw Poindexter only start to scratch the surface of his potential.

Poindexter hit a growth spurt and has seen his game reach a new level for 4A contenders Cascia Hall. As an underclassman he was a baby faced shooter with promise. Still can hit form distance, but also makes his mark by doing a lot of the dirty work and energetic play that a college coach would love. Especially when he makes the occasional highlight reel dunk or block. Considering that he is still growing, it feels like he’s still scratching at the surface of his true potential. Expect signature plays from Poindexter during Cascia’s playoff run, and for him to continue to ascend.

Poindexter has grown and has a Swiss army knife type feel for Cascia. Went back door and got an easy two footed dunk thanks to his long arms. Has been a solid shooter since his freshman year at Sapulpa and did connect from distance in the contest. Where he could really make his mark on the defensive end. Used his long wingspan to erase a shot at the rim. And if he continues to add steel to his mindset on that end, he has the build and movement to become a defensive difference maker.

A transfer from Sapulpa to the Cascia, Poindexter adds depth to the one of the best backcourts in Oklahoma. Has grown to “Big Guard” size at 6 foot 4 by Oklahoma standards, with a wingspan that helps him makes plays around the rim on both ends of the court. Always has had a promising, smooth, looking skillset as a ballhandler and shooter. Especially off mid-range pull up. Looking forward to track the progress of Poindexter this winter as he helps the Commandos compete for a Class 4A title.

A promising sophomore, who could’ve been included in yesterday’s spotlight on Tulsa’s Class of 2027. The baby faced youngster had a normal progression into a bigger role as the season went along for the Class 5A Area Chieftains. He’s still developing physically and a floor game, but he did hit a nice floater to go along with his rep as a long range specialist. A bigger role awaits Poindexter this fall if his game continues to develop.
