RecruitLook Hoops Circuit: St. Louis Showcase Day 1 Recap

The tournament is utilizing three different locations just outside of St. Louis and gave us some high quality matchups across a number of different age brackets on Friday evening. The junior has continued to build on his 13.3 points per game average from the state tournament last month. Konkol poured in 18 points against a very good Jamal Shead Elite team. Ethan is an outstanding shooter that started the game hot. This one was up and down with a lot of scoring, and Konkol showed his quick release both off the bounce and in catch-and-shoot situations. The junior grabbed ten rebounds and was extremely active on both ends. His ability to keep balls alive and create second shot opportunities on the offensive end, really helped his team stay within striking distance despite the barrage of 3-pointers from Jamal Shead Elite. Offensively, Roman finished second on his team in scoring with 19 points. He was at his best when running the floor and working hard to create opportunities around the rim. Poindexter showed his ability to finish through contact and used his long wingspan to spin home multiple putback attempts. In the second game of the night for Southern Assault, the Cascia Hall standout was again very active with 21 points and five rebounds. The junior was efficient shooting from long range and nearly unstoppable driving to his right. His length was clearly an issue for opponents as he shot over smaller defenders with ease as he drove to the paint. Bender has a unique ability to create space and play through contact. He is an elite driver that is able to get his shoulders square and keep defenders on his hip. Brylan was also a force on the defensive end. Clemence showed us that he can hit from NBA range, well beyond the arc. He also has an innate ability to relocate and provide passing lanes for teammates. Clemence finished the game with seven 3-pointers in total, leading all shooters on night one. The junior continues to build off of his double figure average in points for the Indians this past season. Anthony can score in just about anyway you could think. He showed some outside shooting, as well as a heavy dos of transition attacks in which he either converted or got fouled and earned trips to the free throw stripe. Barnes continues to improve with the ball in his hand and has shown the ability to push pace after grabbing defensive rebounds. At 6'0", he plays much bigger than most guards because of his determination and effort on the defensive glass.
