Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Fowler’s combination of size and shooting ability is quite impressive. He’s probably the best shooter 6-foot-8 or above in the region, and he might even have a case for shooting better than lots of the guards. He has an amazing base on all his shots – balanced and consistent – and a beautiful-looking release with his upper body. Unlike most bigger shooters, he’s actually able to run off screens and shoot on the move, which reminds me a bit of Cam Johnson. His size also allows him to guard some forwards and centers. Fowler could improve his creation game and handle, but he’ll walk right into a shooter role on James Madison next season.

Fowler’s combination of size and shooting ability is simply too intriguing to leave him off this list. The 6-foot-7 wing is physically developed with solid length and athleticism; he can slide his feet well on defense and elevate well at the rim on offense. But shooting is where he’s going to make his mark. He’s got a gorgeous shot release that’s quick, compact and accurate, and he can shoot in a variety of situations (off the catch, off the dribble, coming off screens, etc). Guys his size who can shoot like he can are highly sought after at the highest levels, and that’s certainly in the range of outcomes for Fowler, who recently committed to James Madison University.

Fowler is big and strong with an ability to stretch the defense from deep. He made multiple excellent takes to the hoop and is able to finish on either side of the rim with confidence by using his solid body control. He also defended the opposing team’s point-of-attack player all game and was able to severely limit their offensive production.

The 6-7 junior forward has star-level potential as he has grown into a solid prospect since the start of his freshman season. Fowler is explosive and can score in a variety of ways on the offensive end, whether it’s off drives to the basket or off the catch. Defensively, Fowler is very versatile where he can guard multiple positions using his length and athleticism on all three levels. He is also a high-level rebounder who is unafraid when it comes to pushing the tempo as he doesn’t force many mistakes when he has the basketball in his hands.
