He is the best player in this game as he is in virtually every game this season. He controls the tempo of the game and gets his teammates good looks with his vision and basketball IQ. He is a great shooter who will need to be solid on the offensive end, something he has done all year long. His ability to score and control tempo is huge for Olympia.

‘He didn’t score much but had his usual good floor game, finding Engholm down low with some great dimes and keeping the floor spacing. Mason Jeurgens cashed in on three triples in the first 10 minutes. He affects the game in a positive way when he is on the floor. Period.

Gerrits is a skilled scorer and point man, and yet another case of a guy standing out among a team of talented players. He helped carry Olympia to an excellent season in 2021-22 and is poised to be one of the best players in the state this season. Gerrits has been working to elevate his game even further and has looked the part through spring and summer.

After a third-place finish at State in 2021-22, Gerrits is in position to lead his Olympia Bears even higher this coming season. The sweet stroking guard is the unquestioned leader in the South Sound, pacing his team in scoring and bringing the energy. The senior is headed to Pullman next year to join a promising Cougars squad at WSU.

Gerrits is a dynamic point guard who can score from any spot on the court. He’s had an impressive career so far but this will be his best chance to get that coveted 4A State Title. He’s a vocal player, taking on the leadership role with his play and his mouth. Gerrits was heavily relied on to create looks and score one-on-one buckets last season, but he should have some more help to ease the load with some of the younger Bears stepping up this season.

Putting him at the two guard here, allowing him to roam a little and do his thing. My guards are interchangeable, unselfish and both can pick apart the defense. This is something he does at a high level, and I am giving him the green light, to shoot it or grab and go on the break. My West backcourt is ultra competitive and intelligent. This would make my job a lot easier. Do your thing.
