Expert Analysis
Victor Taylor | Prep Hoops Scout
Edwards helped his WCDS squad to a 2-1 record at their Sheetz Holiday Tournament last week. He averaged over 20 PPG and 5 APG as he commanded his team at the point guard spot. He’s a dynamic guy for his size and stature who looks to table set for his teammates, but also really scores the ball well. He can do damage inside and out, but knows how to score it over defenders who are bigger than him with craftiness.

Patton. He’s a high-IQ floor general that knows how to make plays on both ends of the floor and is quite the underrated 3-point shooter when he gets going as well. He knows how to set the tone and control the pace with his energy on the floor and is also a high-academic prospect. College programs on the DII and DIII levels would be wise to get eyes on him at Westchester Country Day School in 2023-24.

Edwards continues to produce and be an impressive floor general for his group, and it’s surprising more schools haven’t reached out yet. He’s a smaller guard but controls the tempo and pace of the offensive game very well for his group. He operates well out of ball screens and is constantly probing and picking apart defenses with his ability to attack the paint as well as thread passes. He’s a solid shooter and scorer, which keeps defenses honest. Defensively he presses up, attacks and really makes defenders have to worry about him as they’re trying to execute their offense. He’s also got quick hands to tap and poke the ball away for steals or disruption. With a bit more weight on his frame, he should be a leader at PG for schools to look at.

Edwards is on the smaller side, but was assertive and a presence for WCDS this weekend. He was in charge, bringing the ball up and dictating the tempo for the team. While I thought he could have pushed a little harder with his quickness and speed, he did a good job staying in control and keeping the ball secure. He does a really good job at finding teammates and picking apart the defense. I’d say he’s a pass first guard, but still does a good job attacking the 6-14 feet range of the floor and getting good looks from there. He’s a smaller, high academic guard that should be a worthy fit for D3 schools in the region.
