Gladden is an obvious nod for top performer of the week here due to his 57 point outburst against Southern Durham in the third place game of the Coby White bracket at John Wall. It’s a tournament record, passing Mike Miller from almost 20 years ago. He’s a big time scorer who knows how to get to his spots and knock down shots, either with the ball in his hands or without it. His calm confidence is not to be forgotten about to, as he will kill you every game with shot after shot while not getting too high or low.
Highlights
Smith had a big weekend as BCA took home the championship at the Southeast Alamance Holiday Tournament, scoring 25 and 18 in their first two games of the event. He’s a slashing wing that can play above the rim or get to the basket strong against the defense. Also a developing jumper that he uses really well in the mid-range area. Super athletic on defense, which allows him to play well in the passing lanes or even go up and contest/block shots.
Edwards helped his WCDS squad to a 2-1 record at their Sheetz Holiday Tournament last week. He averaged over 20 PPG and 5 APG as he commanded his team at the point guard spot. He’s a dynamic guy for his size and stature who looks to table set for his teammates, but also really scores the ball well. He can do damage inside and out, but knows how to score it over defenders who are bigger than him with craftiness.
Highlights
Perry was outstanding as a leader for his Victory Christian squad last week at the Phenom Hoops New Years Bash, scoring 26 and 29 in their last two games en route to game MVPs in both. Really good scorer with a quick first step that makes defenders have to sag in on his drives. Can shoot it well but also attack a closeout and get to the interior to make plays. Really good at finishing over or through defenders despite not being the tallest on the court.
