Miles “Mittens” Heide
Why “Mittens”? Because Heide catches everything in his vicinity. Rebounds, passes (high or low), and he blocks shots at a high rate too. Heide had some monster finishes with backdoor alley-oops and a couple off of the pick and roll, and his activity around the rim was a huge factor in keeping Mt. Si in the game as they struggled to connect from three-point. He finished six-of-nine from the field for 14 points and ripped down 16 rebounds (seven offensive) to complete the double-double.

One of the more classic big men in the state, Heide has the tools to shut down the paint area with his rebounding and defending. He moves so well on offense that other posts get lost guarding him in pick and rolls and through his overall movement and energy. He is deserving of this spot, and I have no doubts he’ll have a huge season at Mount Si.

The most dominant big man in the state, Heide is a strong, athletic forward with just the right mix of finesse to gorge defenses in a number of ways. His Mount Si team lost in overtime of the championship game last season and now it’s his turn to lead the talented Wildcats. Heide averaged 14.5 points 10.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per contest last season. Look for the San Diego State commit to score a bunch more this season.

The big man out of Mount Si is a beast in the paint and plays with high energy at the rim. He’s great at working off the pick and roll with hard dives to the hoop and his hands ready for the pass. Heide is athletic and loves to show this off by running the floor and finishing fast breaks. He’s pretty mobile on defense too, guarding pick and rolls and is able to switch onto smaller players capably. He is committed to playing at San Diego State for college ball and would surely like to end his high school career with another state championship, but his first as one of the go-to-guys.

I’ll take the big man from Mount Si, he’s also a competitor who will give me scoring, rebounds, and defense in the paint. He’s also capable of running the floor with the first three, which is important because I like tempo and fast break basketball. Doesn’t matter if it’s an all star game, he’s playing to win. He makes the team better with his blue collar work in the paint. He’s also got the green light from distance, as I trust he won’t take bad shots. I find myself thinking he might be my most important piece. That’s all I need to say about that.

No. 2 | The 6’9 forward has pulled in a number of offers from high-level division one programs and continues to benefit from a strong summer season. Heide is an aggressive, active big man that blends great strength with good agility and a high work rate. The big guy looks to get involved in as much as he can, runs the floor, and builds great bonds with guards working on the pick and roll.
