Saint Ignatius won due to a great effort by their seniors. Even without Sam Springer due to injury, it was Lamirand, Reece Robinson Reece Robinson 6'7" | PF Saint Ignatius | 2024 State OH , Matt Ellis Matt Ellis 5'11" | CG Saint Ignatius | 2024 State OH and Jack Zapolnik Jack Zapolnik 6'0" | PG Saint Ignatius | 2024 State OH making big play after big play. I wanted to highlight Lamirand who shot the ball well from the outside, going 3/3 from 3-point range. Making a bigger effort on the defensive end of the floor, Lamirand blocked a pair of jumpers and was active all game in help-side and making defensive rotations. Also going hard after loose balls, Lamirand pulled down seven defensive rebounds to end possessions for the Wildcats. To win a Division I state title you obviously need star power, but what separates the teams that win on the biggest stage is getting production from role guys and Lamirand was a key X-factor in the Wildcats state title victory.

Saint Ignatius won this game with rebounding and toughness and Lamirand is the definition of that as he was physical and got the Wildcats lots of second chance opportunities and even finished a couple putbacks. I loved the motor that Lamirand played with and his energy was infectious with the rest of the team. Never going to be a leading scorer for his team but Lamirand brings toughness and will fit in well at the small college level.

Lots of time scorers get the attention from writers, video highlight guys and make the most news, but it takes glue guys to win a championship and that’s what Lamirand is. Can do a lot defensively with his strength, ability to switch and communication skills in help-side. Rebounding is another area of the game where he makes an impact. Lamirand isn’t going to put the ball on the floor very often but can knock down an open shot and finish at or above the rim. Saint Ignatius has a ton of talent for many different college levels and Lamirand is a small college guy who is just going to help his team win.
