Olentangy Berlin is on track to have their best season in their short program history and a strong 2024 class is the reason why. Guys like Noah Gamble Noah Gamble 6’1″ | CG Olentangy Berlin | 2024 State OH and Derek Goodman Derek Goodman 6’4″ | SG Olentangy Berlin | 2024 State OH have earned deserved attention, but they are surrounded by some shooters like Dowdy who will likely take a step. I caught Dowdy at the 270 Hoops prospect camp and that’s how he was added with a strong performance at that event. Dowdy has a quick release and can hit shots from the top of the key or the corners as a floor spacer. With his size and length, he has the potential to make a big impact defensively as well.
Lots of time scorers get the attention from writers, video highlight guys and make the most news, but it takes glue guys to win a championship and that’s what Lamirand is. Can do a lot defensively with his strength, ability to switch and communication skills in help-side. Rebounding is another area of the game where he makes an impact. Lamirand isn’t going to put the ball on the floor very often but can knock down an open shot and finish at or above the rim. Saint Ignatius has a ton of talent for many different college levels and Lamirand is a small college guy who is just going to help his team win.
MAC Basketball found a lot of success at the 17 U level on the Prep Hoops Circuit and Smith was one of the unsung members of that team who did a lot of things to help them win. With good size and a high motor, Smith was one of the top rebounders on the team. Capable of playing in an up tempo and hectic style during both the grassroots and high school season, Smith has a high IQ and will be ready for college coaching. I’ll be curious to see if Smith takes a scoring jump as a senior after Medina graduated a couple top scorers from last years team. Regardless, Smith is a college level prospect who recently had Wittenberg, one of the top Division III programs in the region, give him his first offer.
Highlights
Another Prep Hoops Circuit standout, Roller had a productive Junior season for Batavia and is set to put up even bigger numbers as a senior. After scoring 13 PPG on 48% shooting from the field, I expect Roller to make a jump with a more confident 3-point shot. This summer on the Prep Hoops Circuit, Roller was shooting a confident ball from long distance. Regional small college programs should check out Roller as a wing who can do a variety of things on the court.
