Expert Analysis
Kyle Sandy | Prep Hoops Scout
Hoover’s 21 first half points sprung King’s Ridge to 40-21 halftime lead they would never relinquish. Micah went to work in the paint, snatching rebounds and finishing strong inside. The springy forward finished with dunks and drew fouls. Hoover went 10-12 from the stripe and even stepped outside to nail a three, going 7-12 from the field in total. The workhorse finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds. He’s a very good unsigned senior that non-D-I schools need to look at.

Hoover was like the vacuum cleaner, sucking up offensive rebounds in the first quarter. Micah eventually got in foul trouble and fouled out, limiting his time in the second half, but Hoover’s activity inside was key in keeping plays alive. He finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 1 steal, living at the line as he went 9-12 from the stripe. Micah holds multiple D-III offers.

was huge for King’s Ridge in a 19-point win over Goose Creek on Saturday. He led the Tigers with 20 points and had some tough finishes around the basket. Whenever King’s Ridge was beginning to look stagnant, Hoover would string together some big plays to rejuvenate his squad. He was big on the boards too in this one and he’ll need to continue to rebound at a high level if King’s Ridge wants to get back the state championship. Hoover currently sits with offers from Maryville, Covenant, and Piedmont but has yet to make a decision.

Coming off knee surgery, even without his explosive lift Micah was still good enough to provide King’s Ridge with 12 points, six coming in the fourth quarter. Hoover scored his points in bunches, netting his first six in a row in the second quarter, keyed by a strong baseline drive. As the season wears on, expect Hoover to get his legs back under him. Tuesday was a positive sign in showing that he can still be effective without having his bounce early in the season.

was the ultimate difference maker in a gritty 68-64 win over Jacksonville. Hoover was huge inside, grabbing a bunch of rebounds and finishing well around the rim. He sparked a 3rd quarter run with a few consecutive buckets which ultimately swung the momentum and gave King’s Ridge the lead. Considering Hoover is such a dirty work kind of player, his shooting is often overlooked but he knocked down a couple 3s when given space on Saturday as well.

(Up from No. 56) Hoover is a high motor, springy forward that plays above the rim. Micah is a double-double threat nightly. He uses his athleticism to play bigger than his height. Hoover causes mismatches with his ability to beat opposing big men off the dribble. He’s effective in the high post and can knock down the open three.
