Continue ReadingHoover’s 21 first half points sprung King’s Ridge to 40-21 halftime lead they would never relinquish. Micah went to work in the paint, snatching rebounds and finishing strong inside. The springy forward finished with dunks and drew fouls. Hoover went 10-12 from the stripe and even stepped outside to nail a three, going 7-12 from the field in total. The workhorse finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds. He’s a very good unsigned senior that non-D-I schools need to look at.
Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Thomas poured in 24 points and 5 rebounds netting 14 points in the second half. The physical guard scored from all three levels, bullying his way to the basket while shooting 3-6 from deep. Thomas finished 8-14 from the field and had just one turnover. Zak is a major target for D-III and NAIA programs.
Highlights
Mt. Pisgah’s hopes of a comeback were dashed once Micah Tucker Micah Tucker 6’3″ | PG Huntington Prep | 2025 State #290 Nation WV fouled out. The super sophomore put up 19 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists as he tried to keep the Patriots within striking distance. Tucker forced his way to the rim, drawing fouls as he went 8-11 from the line. His ability to split traps and finish downhill separates him from most guards.
The McDonald’s All-American helped Wheeler shoot a blistering 66% from the field in their 78-58 win over Cherokee. Collier had 22 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. His speed with the ball and ability to see the floor was too much for Cherokee to contain. He tossed alley oops and delivered on the money passes to teammates in their shot pocket. Collier’s burst to the rim and mid-range pull-up were both clicking as he shot 9-13 from the field.
Page altered everything inside, a major factor as to why the smaller Warriors shot just 30% from the field. Every attempt up close had to be launched into the atmosphere so Page couldn’t get a hand on it. In the end, the future USC Trojan recorded 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks while shooting 7-9 from the field. Arrinten is a human eraser on the back line. His mobility and length not only wreck games defensively, but are impactful on offense as he runs the floor for lobs and has a soft touch from 15-feet and in.
The silent X-Factor all year long for the Real Warriors, Braylin Giddens Braylin Giddens 6’2″ | CG Cherokee | 2023 GA played one of his finest games on the biggest stage. The late bloomer shot 5-8 from the field and compiled a team-high 17 points and 6 rebounds. He may not have one elite skill, but Giddens is a high IQ guard that understands his role and is solid across the board. He is willing to make the extra pass and is a sneaky good slasher that can slink his way through the defense. Small schools will want to check in.
All effort all the time, Dastin Hart Dastin Hart 6’5″ | PF Cherokee | 2023 State GA has to be among the state’s top stock risers over the past month. The undersized Warriors turn to Hart to set the tone in the paint with his toughness, athleticism and hunger to compete. Dastin is a great leaper with strength to boot. He flies in for offensive rebounds, keeping possessions alive. Hart can finish at the rim but also has shown through his senior season that he’s a threat to shoot the three. Hart, all by himself, had more offensive rebounds than Wheeler, gobbling up 8. Dastin finished his career with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. He plays with inspiring effort. He’s another prime candidate for NAIA and D-III schools.
