Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
Angyal, a forward out of the Taft School in Connecticut, has done a great job of rounding out his offensive game over the last year. Long known as a broad shouldered forward who excelled as a back to the basket scorer, he’s done a great job of improving his athleticism and conditioning, which has allowed him to expand his game to the perimeter. He can knock down shots from three in catch and shoot situations and even shows the ability to create out of isolations from the top of the paint. Defensively, he walls up without fouling in the post, knows where he needs to be in rotations, and is a physical rebounder in traffic. There aren’t a lot of unsigned 6’8″ forwards that have his combination of college ready frame and versatile skill, making him a prime prospect for scholarship levels schools that still need frontcourt help.

Angyal, out of the Taft School in Connecticut, checks in at #8 among the centers and #68 overall. Angyal has really transformed his body, while also maintaining the strength that allows him to be an impactful low post scorer. He has terrific footwork as a back to the basket scorer, but also shows consistency with his jumper out to the three point line. He’s a space carver as a rebounder, on both ends of the floor, and has improved his lateral mobility to be able to guard in space. He’s a scholarship level prospect that should have some nice options come the spring.

Angyal, a high IQ forward out of the Taft School in Connecticut, makes an appearance on the Watch List. A high academic and high IQ prospect, the 6’8″ forward is as fundamentally sound of a big man as there is in the region. He finishes with great touch around the rim, has the ability to put the ball on the floor for multiple dribbles out of the high post and from the dunker spot, and is an instinctive cutter. He has the strength to finish through contact in the paint, makes some high level passes in the half-court, and can even knock down the occasional perimeter jumper. Defensively, he rebounds at a high level and does a nice job talking on that end of the floor. He’s a scholarship prospect that could have wide ranging interest from academic programs.
