It feels like in many ways Hamilton Southeastern may be one of the few sleeper teams in Sectional 8 with some really good experienced players on their roster. One of their top underclassman that also feels like a X-Factor of a player is senior shooting guard

. The 6’0 guard will come into their first round matchup vs Westfield averaging 7.8 points and is capable of putting together a big game for the Royals. He is a quick guard that has a strong first step that beats the defender off the dribble nearly every time.

-Looked very good shooting the ball
-Made the defense pay when they gave him too much room
-Drilled multiple triples
-Complimented the athletes on his team nicely
-Ran hard in transition for an easy score
-If Young is ranked #78 in IN, I wonder what the top 10 players shoot like

Indiana Basketball Club fell 77-71 to a very good Gamepoint team on Wednesday afternoon. Young knocked in a left wing three-point shot, got to the free throw line a couple of times with strong drives, and was able to operate against the size and athleticism thrown at him throughout the game. However, we were most impressed with how he guarded in this matchup. He was consistently pressuring the ball, did a great job of getting out in the passing lanes to deter ball reversals, and active as a weak side defender. What he brought to the table defensively was noticeable and worth of mention.

Now standing 6’1″-6’2″ with some physical strength in the backcourt, Young has the body of a college guard. Pairing that with what has always been an impressive skill set makes him an intriguing prospect and also allowed for him to standout in stretches on Friday at the Top 100 Showcase. Young is pretty shifty and athletic with the ball in his hands doing a great job of creating separation to launch pull-up jump shots. His shot-making and shot-creation abilities really stood out.

A talented scorer from Hamilton Southeastern High School, Young proved himself as a junior by putting up 11.8 points per game. He has continued his strong play into the spring with Indiana Basketball Club – Oldham and was an integral part of their impressive win over Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB on Saturday afternoon. His ability to stretch the defense as an outside shooting threat also opens up some driving lanes for him and he had success scoring the basketball from all levels in that high-level matchup. One to watch for small college programs heading into the summer months.
