Lobato is an active big man with size who stood out at moments throughout the summer. We got to see him both in-state and out of state and what stood out was his mobility and work on the boards. Lobato played extremely well at our Sophomore showcase and he’s a player who is much bigger than we perceived.  He uses that size to battle for boards, moves well and is constantly moving and is an escape for guards and makes his moves. He should be a player who really stands out this year for Roosevelt and be very aggressive as he’ll have physical advantages most nights. He should consistently be showing that he’s one of the top players it he class as I believe he’s a nightmare matchup for teams. He jumps 25+ spots in this rankings update with the idea that he shows what we saw to finish off the Summer. 

Lobato established himself quickly once 5-on-5 began. His teammates recognized the advantage and repeatedly fed him the basketball, and he rewarded them by producing in bunches. Lobato has legitimate size and wasn’t afraid to use it, moving defenders on the block, demanding touches, and finishing around the basket. What surprised me was how well he moved for his frame. He’s athletic, runs the floor, and can grab a rebound and initiate the offense if so. Lobato walks an interesting line between being a focal point and fitting within an offense, but I came away believing you can absolutely dump the ball to him and let him go to work as we saw a few times at the event. Solid day for him. 

I feel that we’re just early on Mason, but he’s getting ready to make a big push in his sophomore season campaign, where he could turn that into being one of the top prospects in the class. Roosevelt is going to need someone to be their surprise weapon and will need him to step out of his comfort zone and be a versatile two-way standout for them. As a freshman, he got his feet wet and showed he could step in and show up in spot minutes, and this year, I think they’ll have a difficult time keeping him off the floor. From what we’ve seen from him this Spring he has excellent size, he attacks off the dribble, and cannot be denied inside. He’s used his size to overpower players, he’s gotten out on the break, and is a young player who I feel can jump on the scene with a big year. Buy Mason’s stock now before it rises. 

Lobato may still be one of the more unknown names in the group, but the upside is impossible to ignore. The Roosevelt prospect has turned heads during AAU play with his combination of size, athleticism and raw potential. At 6’5”, he plays well above the rim and brings an explosive element that immediately stands out on the floor. Around the basket he does a great job establishing position, catching strong and attacking the rim with confidence and physicality. His athletic tools allow him to finish through contact and make plays others simply can’t. As his overall game continues to develop and the experience grows, Lobato has the talent to quickly emerge as a major name to know moving forward

Mason Lobato Mason Lobato 6'5" | PF/C Roosevelt | 2029 State CO is a physical big for Noco Elite 15U that stood out his game against the Lubbock Panthers 2029 15U for his aggressive play and willingness to fight for the ball. He frequently finds himself in jump ball situations and demonstrates excellent rebounding effort on both ends of the court. Additionally, he effectively cleans up missed shots and converts them into points, making him a valuable asset to Noco Elite 15U.

Labato enters the rankings after making the most of early varsity opportunities. The 6’4 freshman has shown confidence finishing around the rim, he also rebounds and is starting to play with some physicality, which has earned him more minutes. As his minutes increase, consistency will be the key, but the tools are evident. His poise and willingness to affect the game without forcing too much offensively make him a prospect to keep eyes on. I expect him to be a name we speak about more often.
