A big postseason run for Pickerington Central saw them back in the state title game for a second straight season and Johnson hit the shot to send them to that game with a lefty runner with under 2 seconds left to break a tie with Centerville. What I liked most about Johnson’s game was his defensive intensity, which took a leap as a senior. A quick guard who can attack off the dribble and make shots from the outside, I think Johnson can make an impact at the Division III level early in his college career.

Many will point to the layup that won the game as Johnson’s biggest impact, but I thought the senior had a great overall performance in the win. Johnson was very active defensively all game, causing havoc for the Centerville offense. The pass of the night also came from Johnson when he drove baseline and anticipated the help-side defense rotating, finding an open Turner for his third 3-pointer of the game. Hitting the game winner will always get you noticed, but it was the extra stuff that Johnson did that even allowed Pickerington Central that opportunity for a special moment at the end.

Johnson has been shooting the lights out for Pickerington Central from the outside this season as one of the most efficient long-range shooters in central Ohio. I’ve been impressed with Johnson’s ability to be a sparkplug of offense for the Tigers, using his impressive self-creation to add a spark when he gets in the game. Johnson has been prioritized by Heidelberg, Capital and Saint Mary-Of-The-Woods according to his twitter account.
