One of the top prospects nationally in the 2027 class certainly looked the part on Thursday evening with a dominant performance to help Dynamic Prep advance to the semis. Spears Jr started the game aggressive by catching the ball in the mid-post area and going to work. When Spears can get going from the right side of the rim to his left hand, it’s usually a bucket. Spears Jr’s touch has improved significantly with multiple baseline mid-range jumpers and going 9/10 from the free throw line. Each time I watch Spears Jr he has improved in some aspect and that’s why he’s a top prospect nationally in the class of 2027.

Taking a big step this winter, Spears Jr dominated the OTE league for Dynamic Prep, putting up silly scoring, rebounding and efficiency numbers this winter. In the OTE championship game, Spears had 30 points on 12/16 shooting from the field with eight rebounds and three steals to win the title. With elite physical tools from his Dad, a former NFL defensive linemen for nine seasons, Spears Jr has tremendous defensive upside. Another prospect with some of the top programs in the country making strong pushes.

His high-flying bounce immediately jumped off the screen, showcasing fluid, effortless elevation on his explosive two-foot lift. Spears has the most pro potential in the class with elite tools and a frame that’s built for the next level. He’s a fluid athlete who protects the rim, rebounds with presence, and is comfortable handling the ball up or initiating offense. His shot continues to progress, and once it locks in consistently, he’ll be even more of a matchup nightmare. What’s scary is how far he still is from his ceiling — and he’s already a dominant presence. He’s the kind of prospect that programs build their frontcourts around.

. is the most dynamic two-way prospect in the land. He plays with a nonstop motor that makes him a relentless competitor. Spears is so incredible as a shot blocker it seems like he rejects multiple jumpshots on closeouts and pins a shot or two off the glass every game, sometimes with both hands at the same time. His length is something special that you don’t see every day. Spears Jr. also secures boards with ease often by extending his reach over crowds, snatching rebounds at their highest point displaying rare physical tools and attributes. A gazelle in transition end to end but remarkable with ball in his hands following blocks, steals, and defensive rebounds, allowing him to be a playmaker or downhill threat. All Spears almost always makes the right play, displaying quick reads with his fastbreak throws that find rim runners and open corner opportunities in stride.
