Phillips provided nice on-ball defense for his team as he forced some misses in isolation when opposing guards tried to attack him off the dribble. A stout on-ball defender, Phillips made the offense work to get around him as he fought through screens and pressured the basketball. Phillips also had some nice moments as a slasher, with his best move coming off a jump stop that took him from one side of the rim to the other to finish a layup. Oregon Clay has an extremely talented group so I’ll be curious what Phillips is able to provide this winter to a team with a lot of winning experience, size and talent.

A dynamic competitor and scoring presence who makes everyone on his team better. Marcus Phillips Marcus Phillips 5'9" | PG/SF Clay-Oregon | 2029 OH is a difference maker for Hoop Smart 15U! He has great size and speed and elite versatility to guard multiple positions. This point guard is the definition of a leader on the floor for his team! Not only did he lead Hoop Smart 15U in scoring, but he also dished the ball very well in their win Sunday morning. Phillips also displayed his pure stroke knocking down a deep three-pointer. He has great fluidity finishing around the basket and converting around and through defenders. I’m very high on this young point guard’s overall game!

He runs with Hoop Smart. Marcus is a reliable spot-up shooter who also uses his strength to effectively attack downhill. He consistently delivers in key moments while making timely and clutch plays. Phillips is a player to watch due to his composure and consistent scoring/shooting impact.
