As a junior last season, M.J. Stackhouse M.J. Stackhouse 6'7" | PF Kenosha Indian Trail | 2024 State WI dominated the Southeast Conference going for 22.2 PPG, 9.1 RPG, and 2.4 APG. Stackhouse was named Player of the Year and earned an early offer from UW-Milwaukee. This season, Stackhouse is on a mission to win that award again as he’s averaging 24.3 points, 15.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. He’s not messing around this year and is proving to teams all across the country that he has legitimate Division I potential. Mid-majors should express their interest. He’s a monster on the boards (4+ offensive rebounds per game), is a versatile scorer, floor spacer, and a high feel player. He can spot up for catch-and-shoot threes, create his own shot, and clean up misses with putbacks.

Kenosha ITA came up short against Carmen NW, but MJ showed why he’s not only one of the best forwards in the state, but also one of the most entertaining. He can turn any touch on the block into a dunk just by creating the slightest angle to elevate. MJ is such an explosive athlete who can outrun opposing bigs in transition, and utilizes his bounce to block/alter shots on defense at a high level. I love his ability to highpoint rebounds, and his improved handle allows him to take a board and go coast-to-coast on his own when he has a bit of space. Does a great job of playing off two feet which keeps him on balance when he looks to finish off the drive.

MJ Stackhouse figures to be one of the most dominant frontcourt players in the state this winter after putting up 22.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game as a junior. At 6’7+ he’s such an explosive athlete and also has a strong frame which allows him to dominate around the rim. He can quickly get up to throw down dunks, and is a force on the glass on both ends of the floor. MJ’s ability to quickly get off the floor makes him a big time shot blocker as well. Would like to see him get a bit more efficient on the perimeter, but he continues to show flashes of shot creation and outside shooting.

MJ is primed for a massive senior year at Kenosha Indian Trail as there are very few prospects who can match his size, strength, and explosiveness around the rim, while also being able to defend against his perimeter skill-set. In the two games I watched he was creating his own shots on the perimeter and knocking down his threes at a solid clip. Even off the ball he was putting in the effort to make plays as he crashed the offensive glass hard and was sprinting the floor in transition to beat opposing bigs up the floor. Showed off his impressive bounce with a handful of dunks while also finishing with both hands off the drive. Quick bounce makes him a shot blocking threat while he can also move his feet out on the perimeter against wings and smaller forwards. One of the best frontcourt players in the state’s 2024 class.

I’m not sure if there’s a more explosive forward in the state than MJ Stackhouse. He’s a freak athlete at 6’7 with his ability to effortlessly explode off two feet around the basket. Against Messmer if he got even the slightest bit of space around the rim he was going to elevate and throw down a thunderous dunk. He earns those opportunities with quick cuts from the dunker spot, by running the floor hard, and with quick spins from the block with the ability to read his defender’s positioning. MJ is still a bit raw, but continues to show impressive flashes on the perimeter with pull-up jumpers that are hard to defend due to the way he elevates. If he can get a bit more efficient and consistent in that area, there won’t be many teams who can slow him down. Ended the game against Messmer with 21 points and recently earned an offer from UW-Milwaukee.

MJ started out the game knocking down a pull-up three, and went on to finish with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists in a win over a tough Westosha Central team. MJ was facing constant double teams when he looked to post up, and was still able to power his way to the basket for finish after finish. It may not always look the smoothest but MJ was also finding ways to get to the basket off the dribble, and using his long stride to split defenders and extend to finish. Had the highlight of the day taking his man baseline and elevating to throw down a powerful dunk with a 6’8 defender contesting. With his size at 6’7 it’s very impressive how quickly he can get off the floor to make those type of plays.

MJ is already known a bit as a high potential prospect, but had a quieter sophomore season as the touches weren’t always there. He showed how dominant he can be at times with a five game stretch of 15, 25, 10, 20, and 14 points, and I think those type of games should be a lot more consistent as a junior. He has some “athletic freak” to him as he stands roughly 6’7 with a strong frame and some explosive bounce that threatens to bring a rim down every time he goes up to finish. MJ is showtime in transition but also has the coordination to catch off of short cuts to the rim and quickly elevate to throw down with power. He’s not just an athlete though as he has a solid handle on the perimeter and the ability to catch fire from three. Once he sees one go in early, he’s a streaky shooter who can put up points in a hurry. Also a dominant shot blocker because of how quickly he can get off the floor combined with his long wingspan.
