Expert Analysis
Max Wagner | Prep Hoops Scout
Lorenzo is one of the most explosive guard prospects in the state. He has a quick first step, can sky for rebounds in traffic, and defensively has the ability to pick up steals in bulk. As an on-ball defender he can sit deep in a stance and consistently cut off opposing ball handlers, but he also has great instincts off the ball to jump passes and get out in transition. On the offensive end he finished with 18 points as he knocked down a few threes and also attacked the basket to earn some trips to the free throw line. When Lorenzo gets into the paint he does a great job of scanning the floor, and is able to deliver accurate passes to his shooters or forwards even when driving at full speed.

Lorenzo is really stepping up this season for a Minnehaha team that lost a lot from last season’s team. Defensively he was a menace with his on ball pressure, forcing mistakes, 10 second calls, and picking up steals/jump balls with his quick hands and effort to dive on the floor. His effort was noticeable all over the floor with him diving for multiple loose balls and pulling in rebounds among much taller players. Offensively he excelled at creating shots for himself and his teammates. His shifty handle allowed him to consistently beat his man and just pin him on his hip. From there he could explode to the basket to score with either hand, or locate and open shooter with a quick pass. Was delivering those kickout passes with speed and accuracy right into the shooter’s hands. He was already having a big game, but really took over in overtime with a handful of finishes and big defensive plays to give his team the win.
