Expert Analysis
Sam Duren | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the better athletes on this list, with the mobility to cover guards. And the explosiveness to compete in the post. When Shockley is locked in, he changes game. Can explode for dunks at the rim drain open jumpers. Or make an out nowhere steal and block. Broken Arrow is DEEP with talent (his fellow senior Talley is a of a similar mold), so his raw production might not be as consistent as other seniors. Still does have a 32 point performance to his name over Sapulpa. But the potential to be unearthed by the right college is there for him to have a productive collegiate career.

Scored a game high 20 points, include a skying alley oop late in the first half that stopped an Union run and seemed to energize Shockley and his teammates. Shortly after the oop he blocked a shot on the perimeter, then raced to successfully contest another look at the buzzer. Carried that momentum into the second half with more energy on defense and perimeter shot making. When Shockley is locked in like he was on Thursday night, he has the size and athleticism to be one of the most impactful players in Oklahoma. An important player to watch as Broken Arrow is expected to make a push for the Class 6A State Title.

Good athlete, who had flashes of havoc causing on defense. A plus wingspan and elevation allows him to contest/block shots, while also vacuuming up rebounds. Runs the floor well, and can also spot up from three. If motor runs hot this winter, his impact will be loud. Valuable, versatile, interchangeable piece for one of the deepest teams in Oklahoma.

There’s a handful of plays each game where Shockley looks like a no brainer collegiate level player. A helpside block, draining a three with confidence at his size, a grown man move ending with a finish at the rim. The tools are there and they’re on display enough to be excited about him. But then there will come a missed layup in transition, or moments on the court where his presence isn’t as noticeable. That’s the challenge the rest of July for Shockley; raising the floor to match his high ceiling. Finding the consistency to make the production leap will see an uptick in his recruitment and set him up for a huge senior year at one of Oklahoma’s top schools, Broken Arrow.

If the junior plays more games like he closes the second half, Shockley could emerge as one of the players to know about from the 918. He played like his hair was on fire in an attempt to spark a Tiger comeback. Which included an impressive steal and transition slam. With his combination of size and good movement, there’s real upside for the wing-forward to emerge as a key piece of a Broken Arrow team that has the traits to be one of the better defensive teams in 6A.
