Brandon Ramsey | Prep Hoops Scout
After three years of varsity experience at Valparaiso High School, Avery has moved to reigning Class 3A State Champion South Bend St. Joseph for his senior season. The long, athletic, 6’2″ guard averaged 10.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists last year for the Vikings and will add valuable depth to a very talented Huskies backcourt.

I’ve had the opportunity to see this Valparaiso High School prospect on back-to-back weekends between Super Hoops and the Charlie Hughes Showcase and he really stood out to me both times. Avery is an intriguing long-term prospect in the backcourt with serious straight line quickness, skill off of the bounce, and length on the defensive end of the floor. He was on our Watch List already, but now the 6’1″ guard debuts at #40 in the updated Class of 2026 rankings.

Avery is a 6’0″ point guard with some physical strength to go along with long arms at his position. He can be disruptive on the defensive end, handles the ball well in transition, and proved to be a sound decision-maker on Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
