Rob Howe | Prep Hoops Scout
Earl, the son of former Iowa Hawkeye and NBA big man Acie Earl, continues to advance his game on both ends of the court. He can score and defend on all three levels. He takes advantage of his length and deep understanding of the game to make the right play more often than not. He contributed 10 points and helped the Trojans lock down defensively against their rival.

It was good seeing Earl healthy again after battling injuries the last few seasons. His strength gains were noticeable, making him more effective in the lane and on the low block. His ball handling has taken a step forward and pairs nicely with a quick first step. Earl is a solid defender and rebounder. He contributed 14 points in this contest.

Earl has battled injuries over the last few years, but when he’s healthy and going well, he’s as good a wing scorer as there is in the state. The son of former Iowa big man Acie Earl, Kareem has great footwork and he uses his footwork and size to create some additional space to get his shot off. He averaged 10.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists a game as a junior.

Earl has battled injuries for the last few years, but when he’s healthy, he’s among the best wing scorers in the state, regardless of class. He possesses a combination of size (6-4/6-5), length, and athleticism that few others in the state can match, and he can score from all three levels, playing with or without the ball in his hands. He averaged 10.5 points and 4.7 rebounds a game as a junior on 51-50-74 shooting splits, and after missing a chunk of the spring, he came back to have a strong finish to the summer. He should have a big senior year for the Trojans.

Good size and athleticism. Can stretch the floor off of screening action in every way possible. Can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim going either way. Can finish with either hand. More physical then most. Dominate when he can catch with his back to the basket. Constantly has expanded his game to fit the system he is playing in over the years, leading to being an overall solid player who you can count on when it matters.
