Expert Analysis

Johnny was limited to 13 games after transferring to J-Town from Eastern. Statistically, nothing he did this season was impressive but look for McFarland to be a breakout star next season. Johnny may be the best athlete in the 2027 class if you’re looking for a run and jump athlete. He can make a difference on the boards and seems like the kid who goes to Juco as a sleeper and ends up as a really good college player after a year or two at that level.

A big time athlete, McFarland is a bouncy 4 man who offers some rim protection on defense in addition to an ever-improving skill set. Johnny is a sleeper in Louisville but also should draw interest from scholarship level schools over the next year or so. His ceiling will be determined by how well he can develop his wing skills.

McFarland goes from 57th to 30th in this update. He was very impressive at the PB32 Elite Camp a couple of weeks ago and is a big time athlete that makes plays above the rim. His overall skill level needs to continue to improve but he hasn’t had a chance to show a whole lot. I’m interested to see more out of Johnny as he keeps developing.

. Johnny showed off impressive bounce and flashed just enough skills and motor to leave me really intrigued with his long term potential. You could argue that Johnny earned an All Star selection over some guys who did make it. I’d like to see how McFarland plays in a more structured game. Definitely a player to keep an eye on.

Big and athletic, McFarland goes from 128 to 58 in this update and he has the opportunity to keep moving up. Johnny is still raw on the offensive end but he has the tools to be an impact player on both ends of the court if he continues to develop his game. Don’t sleep on this one.

McFarland showcased his impressive scoring ability. He can finish around the basket in traffic and through contact. He knocked down mid-range jumpers, including a tough fadeaway. His shooting range extends out beyond the arc as well.
