Quannie is a big player with a diverse skill set. Able to score around the rim or from the perimeter, Stafford’s bag is deep with tools. If he can make as much of an impact on defense as he does on offense, Stafford will fly up these rankings and start seeing scholarships come his way.

Sticking with the theme of under-the-radar big men, Stafford was an early morning standout on Saturday when watching 502 Elite 17u. The Kentucky native is a big, physical presence around the basket with solid footwork for his size. He was able to bully defenders in the paint to score with his right hand and even flashed some ability to drive it from the mid-post. Stafford looks like a very good rebounder as well.

Dequane Stafford brings size, but what stood out was his ability to stretch the floor for 502 Elite 17U. He has a solid outside shot, which makes him difficult to guard as a big. Defenders have to respect his shooting, which opens up space for his team. That combination of size and shooting gives him real value in today’s game.

Quannie is on to his third school in three years but hopefully J-Town can pull the best out of him. Stafford shows flashes of serious game but also tends to wander around the three point line way too much. If he starts becoming an inside/out threat, he should be on scholarship radars by this time next year.

Quannie is another new name for me this season and when I saw him in the fall, I thought he had big time potential at Holy Cross. Stafford had a disappointing season where he spent too much time floating around the perimeter at 6’7. I’ve heard he may have already transferred to a new school. Regardless, Stafford has tremendous potential if he can elevate his game.
