The best thing Jenkins did in the last year was transfer from Woodford to Douglass as he was able to have a huge season and play with the ball in his hands a lot of the time. JJ holds multiple offers right now and should be a scholarship player when signing day comes.

Jenkins was active on both ends of the court, using his motor and athleticism to make an impact. Finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds, Jenkins was crashing the offensive glass and scoring on second chance points. I really enjoy how hard Jenkins plays, with six offensive rebounds and five fouls drawn, Jenkins combines that motor with impressive athleticism and is a very productive player. Jenkins also had a game-high four steals and led Frederick Douglass in minutes played, showing his value to his team on the court.

Frederick Douglass and Butler had a battle in what was the most highly anticipated game of the day. I was really impressed with Jenkins ability to go coast to coast off rebounds and steals, turning defense into offense for his team. Combine that with a couple 3-pointers off the catch and a motor that never stops and Jenkins was one of the most impactful players on the court. Right now, there aren’t many teams in all of Kentucky I’d pick over Frederick Douglass.

When Melo Boone went from Douglass to Woodford, they probably didn’t expect to get Jenkins back as part of the trade. With Boone gone and Aveion Chenault Aveion Chenault 6'3" | SG Frederick Douglass | 2025 State KY not playing basketball (from all indications) the Broncos will need Juante ready to contribute immediately for them to stay relevant in the region. Their district is absolutely brutal and one of the top teams in the region won’t even make the regional tournament.

Plenty of jokes have been made about Douglass and Woodford making a trade with Jenkins and Boone but there is an argument to be made the Jaunte may be the better fit for both parties. Departing a roster loaded with guards and enrolling at Douglass, Jenkins and Junior

make a tough backcourt that should log the vast majority of the minutes for the Broncos and will allow Jenkins to show more of his offensive game than he has been able to, so far.

JJ is a versatile guard for a Woodford team that relies heavily on their backcourt to lead to their success. Jenkins has gotten to play more on the ball the tail end of the season with Santonio Waide Santonio Waide 6'0" | PG Combine Academy | 2026 State NC out with an injury. Jaunte is a capable driver who can finish at the rim or dish to teammates. If he can take his three point shooting up a notch in March, it’s possible that Woodford comes out of the crowded and competitive 8th region on the backs of their talented guards.

Jenkins had a really solid game vs Washington County. He never played outside himself by trying to do too much. He took what the defense gave him and utilized his high IQ. Was good in transition but he made a huge 3 in the third quarter that set Woodford into a different mode which allowed them to pull away from Washington County. He is a really solid player that fills a bunch of different roles for them.

Sharing the backcourt with Waide both during the high school season and during AAU, Jenkings rises from 42nd overall to 30th in this update. Jaunte should see a big rise in his scoring numbers this season and could see a boost in his college stock as a result.

Woodford County lost superstar Jasper Johnson to national powerhouse Link Academy, they still managed to make it to the final four of the 64 team bracket. Jenkins was impressive with his quickness and ability to get into the lane. Best when the game was going up and down, the faster the tempo, the better Jenkins was. Able to finish through contact with acrobatic finishes at the rim and make dump passes to his forwards, Jenkins was tough to stop with a head of steam going to the basket. I expect Jenkins to receive scholarship interest next spring and summer if he continues to develop as a prospect.
