may have been the best of the bunch. The shorter yet very stocky guard made some tough plays throughout the game on both ends of the floor including some big time shots in the earlier parts of the game. In many ways, Fountain is the glue of this Carmel team.

Sunday was as well as we’ve seen Fountain play in quite some time. The left-handed guard from Carmel High School shot it in from three-point range and had consistent success getting into the paint off of the bounce. He made good reads and crisp passes from a live dribble when attacking the basket. Fountain always does a good job of keeping the ball moving on the perimeter as well and is a good screener/cutter. He should have a good senior season for the Greyhounds and continue to pick up some more college interest.

At least in terms of what we know, Fountain’s recruitment has remained relatively quiet. However, he is a veteran guard from a Carmel High School program that regularly turns out college-level talent. The simple fact that he has played in as many varsity games as he has for the Greyhounds should have small college coaches interested. Fountain is a 6’0″ lefty guard that is a catch-and-shoot threat off of the ball and a very good passer with the ball in his hands. He will have a good understanding of defensive principles from day one and the ball won’t stick in his hands offensively.

Everything Fountain does he does with a purpose. He is a plug-and-play type guy at the next level for any sort of Motion-based offensive system. The left-handed guard is a high-percentage shot-maker when open on the perimeter, drives it hard in a straight line to his left, and is a very good passer. You never have to worry about the ball sticking with Fountain in the game. He is a physical on-ball defender as well.

Fountain is a strong point guard that is really hard to guard when he is getting downhill into the paint. He is quick off of the bounce, creates his own shot, and finishes well at the end of his drives. One of the “next up” guards coming out of powerhouse Carmel High School and will likely get some varsity time this season. Depending on how much time he gets, he could really breakout this season.
