A productive and reliable combo guard who immediately stands out with his eye popping athleticism and stable guard play, Jamel Jordan’s performance this weekend showcased his impact as an overall offensive threat— constantly putting pressure on the rim in the open floor and attacking driving angles in the half court for athletic finishes at the rim, perimeter spot up shooting off the ball, soft touch in the in between area for smooth mid range pull ups, turn around fadeaways, and floaters in the lane. All while leveraging his lengthy frame and anticipation skills to be disruptive in the passing lanes and showcase more of his athleticism in transition getting on the rim a number of times. Jordan is definitely a prospect to track who projects to trend upward this spring and summer.

Moving into Scanlan’s starting lineup down the stretch of the season, Jordan continued his breakout year with a double-figure effort to help steer the Crusaders to the win. Mostly a JV player a year ago, Jordan stands out immediately with his length and fluid athleticism in the backcourt. He was effective on Sunday in leveraging his length and quickness to find his way into the lane and make plays off the bounce. Jordan also showed smooth mechanics on his jumper with comfortable touch from both the perimeter and midrange. His fastbreak dunk helped provide the exclamation point in the fourth quarter. He’ll have a real chance to garner D1 attention heading into his 16U grassroots campaign.

A breakout candidate heading into his sophomore year after biding his time as a freshman, Jordan looks ready to make a splash if his play on Sunday was any indication. The dynamic dribble-drive threat was effective creating his own shot off the bounce, working to his spots consistently and also showing flashes as a playmaker for others after sucking in the defense. Jordan also flashed improved athleticism in the floor game, crashing the offensive glass and using his length to make plays defensively. He should have a chance to emerge onto D1 radars in the years to come.
