Phillips will benefit from his scoring as the top returner in the scoring category.

Heikkinen returns to Phillips following a strong sophomore campaign. The 5’8 guard has a great deal of experience at the varsity level. Opponents will have him marked each night out as he connected on 51 three pointers in the previous season. Heikkinen looks to grow into a floor leader as he heads into his Junior campaign.

The knock on Heikkinen is his lack of size. He is on the small side at 5-foot-8. However, that’s about the only drawback for this young lead guard. Already a two-year starter and two-time all-Marawood North selection, Heikkinen enters his junior season as a leader for a Phillips squad expected to contend for a league championship. The highly skilled ball handler, shooter and passer averaged 12.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists while playing a big role for a Phillips squad that went 13-13 under coach Amy Ring. Heikkinen shot 81 percent from the free throw line and made 51 three-point baskets as a sophomore. He is one of three starters, along with Brayden Revak Brayden Revak 5'9" | CG Phillips | 2025 WI and Lane Abraham Lane Abraham 6'0" | CG Phillips | 2025 WI , returning for Phillips in 2024-25.

Don’t let the size fool you when it comes to Heikkinen because he plays the game a lot bigger than he is. Late in the game when it was still somewhat in reach for the MN Lightning , Heikkinen took the ball to the rack with his mind set on getting a bucket. Rather than trying to get fancy, he just attacked fast and finished right over the top of a larger defender. He also knocked down outside shots, forcing the defense to respect his two-level scoring.
