Ibsa Dejene
Point Guard
About Ibsa
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I'm a pass-first point guard with strong playmaking ability, capable of creating opportunities for my teammates while still being a threat from beyond the arc. I can handle the ball confidently under pressure and in open space, keeping the offense flowing at all times
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I’m a leader both on and off the court. I help others improve by pointing out mistakes in a constructive way, so they can grow and get better at their game. Personally, I hold myself to the same high standards—I always reflect on my own mistakes when I’m alone, making sure I learn from them and improve. No matter who is around me, my mindset stays the same: work hard, stay focused, and never lower
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
N/A
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
My leadership has grown, and I’ve significantly improved both my ball-handling and shooting, becoming a consistent sharpshooter from three. I’ve also focused on helping correct my team’s mistakes, holding everyone accountable—including myself. I constantly study the game and learn from the best, always striving to become the best.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Learning how to be a true leader and understanding the game on a deeper level has shown me that hard work is the only way forward. To rise above my competition, I know I have to push myself every single day. My mindset is simple: get 1% better every day. My goal is to become the best leader I can be, to be No. 1 in Oregon—and eventually, the No. 1 in the country.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a Division 1 program that values leadership and is hungry for a championship. I’ve spent my whole life preparing for this moment, and I’m ready to prove the work I’ve put in. I don’t have a "dream school"—because to me, the dream isn’t where it starts, it’s where it ends. Wherever I go, I’ll be ready to lead, compete, and give everything I’ve got.
