Tarpenning controlled the paint throughout the day, using his size and physicality to overwhelm smaller defenders. He consistently finished around the rim, converting high percentage opportunities while establishing deep post position. On the glass, he was a force, securing rebounds on both ends and making smart decisions by either kicking the ball out to open shooters or converting put back baskets. His presence inside created matchup problems all game and his ability to dominate the boards made him one of the most impactful interior players at South Suburban on Saturday.

Tarpenning used day 1 to show why he’s going to be a major problem for opponents moving forward. Every time he steps on the floor, you can see the potential and impact his size brings to the game. He presents a difficult matchup because of his length and physical presence, but what really stood out was his advanced positioning and polished footwork in the post. He consistently established deep position and finished efficiently around the basket. His impressive wingspan allowed him to play above defenders, clean up rebounds and create easy scoring opportunities. Tarpenning has the type of size and interior tools that could make him a major prospect to follow as he continues developing. At 6’4, he already creates matchup problems with his frame, length and ability to impact the game around the basket. He shows touch from the high post, finishes through contact inside and creates second chance opportunities with his rebounding activity. His willingness to screen, battle in traffic and play through physicality stand out. As he continues growing into his frame and becoming more assertive offensively, Tarpenning has the upside to become a highly productive interior presence and a player that could quickly rise onto more radars moving forward

At 6’4, Tarpenning brings a physical interior presence that’s tough to deal with at this level, and opposing teams saw that. His size already separated himself but he was able to score effectively from the high post and finish through traffic on the block as well. He used his length to create advantages. He set solid screens and rebounded with purpose, which led to extra scoring opportunities for his team and also finishes at the basket for himself. As he continues to embrace physicality and assert himself consistently, his impact inside will only continue to grow, but he’s a player who we are certain will be a riser and name to know soon. Those Tarpenning boys have such a ceiling and I was shocked to see that it was another one.
